画像検索表示には安定したURLが必要になる

サイト内で使用する画像には、altテキスト（代替テキスト）・キャプション・画像タイトル・画像URLなどがあります。

それぞれの項目のことはわかっても検索結果にはどのように影響してくるのか、実際のところよくわからないという方も多いのではないでしょうか。

2022年2月25日の『Google SEO office-hours』で、画像タイトルやファイル名が検索ランキングにどのように影響するかについての質問がありました。

画像検索にこだわる場合は安定したURLが必要

今回の質問者は前提としてCDN（コンテンツ・デリバリー・ネットワーク）を利用しています。

このことについてJohn氏は以下のように回答しています。

If these are images that you need to have index in image search, then you should definitely make sure that you have a stable filename for your images, that’s I think kind of the most important element here.

さらに以下のように続けました。

And if the image url changes every time we crawl, then essentially we’ll never be able to index those images properly.

画像検索にフォーカスする場合は安定したURLが必要なよう。

CDNは画像URLを数字に変換しますが、もしGooglebotが来るたびにURLの数字が置き換わっているようであれば画像URLを認識できないため、画像検索に表示されない可能性があるとのこと。

Anymore so the most important part here is kind of figuring out, do you care about image search?
And if so, you need to make sure that you have a stable url for all of these images.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a number or if it’s a text or anything like that.
It should just be stable, that’s kind of the most important part here.

あくまで画像検索にこだわるのであれば、数字でもテキストでも安定したURLが必要ということを話しています。

ページの検索結果には画像URLは必要ない

画像検索には安定した画像URLが必要ですが、通常の検索結果にはどのような影響があるのでしょうか。

これについてもJohn氏が回答しています。

For web search, we don’t need to be able to crawl and index the images.
Because we essentially just look at the web pages themselves.

さらに以下のように続けています。

So things like the alt text, any captions headings on the page, all of that play into understanding this page a little bit better.
And for web search, that’s all we need, if all of the images were, for example, 404 all the time or blocked by robot’s txt.
For web search, we would still treat that page exactly the same as if we were able to index all of those images.

画像検索を意識せず通常の検索結果のみにフォーカスしている場合は画像URLが404エラーだろうとrobot’s txtでブロックしようと、altテキストやキャプションが記述してあればページ理解には充分なようです。

URLについての考え方は画像も通常ページも同じで、URLからGooglebotがクロールインデックスするため安定したURLが必要になるということですね。

今回はCDNを利用していることによって画像URLが数字に変換されることが、検索結果にどのように反映されるかという内容でした。

CDNを利用していないWebサイトの場合は画像URLが置き換わることは通常ありません。

画像検索にフォーカスするか？

するのであれば、画像URLにも配慮する。しないのであれば、画像URL（ファイル名）を気にしすぎずaltテキストやキャプションをしっかり記述するようにしましょう！
